American Exports: Alejandro Bedoya lines up as a playmaker in Nantes win; Rubio Rubin rides the pine

Alejandro Bedoya celebrates a goal for Nantes

AMSTERDAM – Alejandro Bedoya and Nantes tentatively rose to eighth place in France's Ligue 1 with a 2-1 home victory over Evian on Saturday night.

The US attacker worked a lukewarm full shift in the No. 10 role, even if his passing game was a shade off. Bedoya misfired with 18 of his 37 attempts, including a pair of early through balls that were too heavy for area runners to reach.

Bedoya's lone scoring chance came in the 17th minute, when his close range header was well-saved by the Evian netminder. For the game, the New Jersey native also notched two tackles, two set-piece clearances and the uncharacteristically high total of five ball-handling turnovers.

Switching focus to the Dutch Eredivisie, Rubio Rubin remained a bench spectator as FC Utrecht's four-game unbeaten run came to its end after a 3-1 defeat at Cambuur. The result pushed the Red-and-White Army to nine points back of the last Europa league playoff spot.
