Alphonso Davies' Bayern Munich crushes Zack Steffen's Fortuna Duesseldorf

Alphonso Davies – celebrate – Bayern Munich

It wasn’t a Concacaf Nations League showdown, but Canada again bested the United States, this time in a Bundesliga clash.

Canadian international and former Vancouver Whitecaps standout Alphonso Davies was again in the starting XI and went 90 minutes as Bayern Munich thrashed a Fortuna Duesseldorf side that had USMNT teammates Zack Steffen in goal and Alfredo Morales in the midfield.

It was a rough game for Steffen, the former Columbus Crew SC star, whose gaffe gifted a goal to Bayern, which moved to within to one point of the top of the Bundesliga table.

Also in the Bundesliga, Weston McKennie came off the bench for a 17-minute stint in a 2-1 victory over Werder Bremen, which didn’t feature Josh Sargent.
