The Colombian, who joined the Galaxy on loan from Portuguese powerhouse Benfica in August, was out of contract following the 2020 MLS season.
The 26-year-old, who had one assist in nine appearances (seven starts) for the Galaxy, returns to Brazil, where he’s already competed for Fluminense and Corinthians.
The Medellín native began his professional career with Colombia’s Envigado Fútbol Club in 2013, where he remained before joining Atlético Junior in 2016. Gonzalez scored nine goals and contributed one assists across all competitions for Fluminense. He signed with Benfica in January 2020, but was quickly loaned to Corinthians in Brazil for the remainder of the season.
