Gianluca Zavarise joined Toronto FC on March 11, 2011 after signing as a free agent. He began his career with Calcio Montebelluna and left for AC Belluno 1905 of Italy’s Serie D. In 2008, he joined Vfl Bochum II of the German Bundesliga where spent two seasons. He then moved to Greece for the 2010-2011 season with Iraklis Thessaloniki FC of the Greek Super League.

2010: Zavarise was called into Canada’s senior squad for a pair of international friendlies in May. He played during a 1-1 draw with Venezuela on May 29 to earn his first international cap.
