Lee Nguyen's brace makes him first member of New England Revolution to win Player of the Week in 2014

Lee Nguyen's two-goal performance this past weekend did not just strengthen his case for MLS MVP this season. It also won him Player of the Week honors.

Nguyen was voted Week 32's Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters on Monday after bagging both goals in the New England Revolution's 2-1 road win over the Houston Dynamo on Thursday. The veteran midfielder lifted his playoff-bound club after it fell behind late in the first half, scoring with an impressive strike in the 65th minute and slotting home a rebound three minutes before the final whistle.

The two goals gave Nguyen 18 on the season (most by an American player, eight of which have been game-winners), furthering his argument as the league's MVP while also seeing him become the first member of the Revolution to win the Player of the Week accolade in 2014.
