Combine wraps up


Thursday is the last chance for draft prospects to impress MLS coaching staffs as the 2017 adidas MLS Player Combine wraps up in LA ahead of Friday's SuperDraft (livestream at 3 pm ET). You can watch the players in action in Thursday's doubleheader with the first match kicking off at 1 pm ET followed by the finale at 2:30 pm ET.

The 2017 official MLS match ball was unveiled on Thursday morning. Check out all the images here. Meanwhile, the Portland Timbers will also have a new look in 2017, revealing their primary jersey for the upcoming season.


Developing story


MLSsoccer.com's Sam Stejskal on Wednesday reported that New York Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch was in talks to take the reins of Austrian sister side Red Bull Salzburg. New reports this morning from the East Coast indicate that Marsch is on his way back to the US and will join RBNY staff in LA for the SuperDraft. Center Line Soccer says Luzern winger Jahmir Hyka (who was one of our recent suggestions of players based in Europe for MLS clubs to target) is on the verge of joining the San Jose Earthquakes.


In the race


Reports out of both Argentina and Italy have the LA Galaxy speaking to the agent of Lazio midfield general Lucas Biglia. The player was recently linked to Atlanta United.


Offers to Spain?


Regional paper La Voz de Galicia reports that Deportivo La Coruña midfielder Alex Bergantinos has an offer on the table (in Spanish) from Sporting Kansas City. At the same time, Barcelona outlet Diario la Grada claims that Espanyol outcast Martin Demichelis has two offers from MLS clubs (in Spanish).


Contingency plan


The Daily Mail says that veteran Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing is up for an MLS move if he's unable to seal an English Premier League transfer in January.


Drawing glances


According to Andrew King, out-of-contract Columbus Crew SC 'keeper Steve Clark has interest from Danish Superliga clubs.


Plotting moves


While FC Dallas are expecting to unveil a new Designated Player in the coming week, Philadelphia Union sporting director Earnie Stewart says they're aiming to follow up on a pair of recent signings by adding a strong midfield presence.


Nearly there


Vancouver Whitecaps wing ace Kekuta Manneh has received his US citizenship, leaving him one FIFA step shy of being able to play for the US national team.


The Beckham effect


It's was 10 years ago Wednesday that David Beckham signed with the LA Galaxy, and MLS Commissioner Don Garber spoke about his impact on the league among several other topics when he joined Colin Cowherd on The Herd.
