Kaká, Orlando City reign supreme in wacky Fantasy Round 11 | Monday Morning Center Back

From inclement weather, to the defending MLS Cup champs being shellacked by an expansion team, the twists and turns of the 2015 MLS Fantasy season continued in Round 11.

Sporting Kansas City and Colorado Rapids players were given an unforeseen bye week due to a weather-forced cancellation at Sporting Park, leaving fantasy managers high and dry unless they had viable options stashed on their bench, ready to auto-sub in at the end of the round.

In what has become a recurring theme during double game weeks, the team most fantasy owners steered clear of reigned supreme in collecting fantasy points. There was plenty of fantasy goodness to go around in Orlando, with the Lions placing six players on the Round 11 Dream Team. Those who stuck with Kaká after his slow start to 2015 were rewarded, with his 15 points good enough to make him top player of the round.

While Corey Bennett’s FC Tubby hit 107 points for the round, they took a -16 point transfer hit to put the final total at 91 points. Fantasy manager Brandon Boekelman used only his two free transfers to post 104 points with Bogelburger, coming away with the highest score of the round.

We’re on another Double Game Week in Round 12, so let’s jump right in:

  • The transfer deadline for Round 12 is Wednesday, May 20 at 8:00PM EDT.

  • If you have any questions regarding a specific player’s status, fire away in the comments section below and I’ll be glad to offer the latest information as it becomes available.

Little Green Arrows: We’re just over a third of the way through the season, so there’s still plenty of time left to move up the table. Plan accordingly and you’ll be rewarded with little green arrows as your team shoots up the leaderboard! If you’ve gotten off to a hot start like overall leader Bruce McGeorge’s Grey Lions FC, stick with what got you where you are. Remember though, there are 28,754 other players who would love to be in that spot, so don’t get comfortable just yet.

DGW Watch: The New England Revolution and Sporting Kansas City both play twice in Round 12. Looking ahead, Rounds 13 and 14 will be a fantasy point bonanza, with both rounds having six teams on a DGW. Keep in mind you will have unlimited free transfers in Round 15.

With the busy upcoming schedule in mind, I have my eye on a few players who should pay big dividends for fantasy owners in the coming weeks:

Dom Dwyer – Sporting KC – Forward($10.6m) – Dwyer has two goals in his last three games, and looks to be rounding into the form that saw him shatter Sporting KC’s single-season scoring record with 22 goals in 2014. With two chances to find the net this round, Dwyer is my top target up top.

Benny Feilhaber – Sporting KC – Midfielder($9.7m) – The Etihad Airways MLS Player of the Month for April has been just as reliable for fantasy owners as he has for Sporting KC. Feilhaber is averaging 7.1 points per game, and should push for 180 minutes this round considering the unexpected rest Sporting got over the weekend.

Chris Wondolowski – San Jose Earthquakes – Forward($11m) – Wondolowski has stepped up since fellow Quakes forward Innocent went down for the year, scoring three goals in his last four games. All eyes will be on Wondo this Sunday night, when he has a chance to become just the ninth player in league history to score 100 career goals. A home game against expansion side Orlando City SC presents the lethal striker with a good opportunity to make history in front of the San Jose faithful.
