A critical contest in the Western Conference playoff picture is ahead when the San Jose Earthquakes play host to Real Salt Lake on Saturday evening at Avaya Stadium. The Quakes return home in desperate straits, their overall winless run now at seven games following a 3-1 loss at the Montréal Impact at midweek that left them seven points below the red line. Real have a chance to secure their place in the postseason, despite seeing their winless and goalless streaks extended last weekend in a scoreless draw with FC Dallas at Rio Tinto Stadium.
