New York City FC fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see star midfielder Frank Lampard in action, as the club confirmed Saturday that he would miss Sunday's showdown with Orlando City SC at Yankee Stadium due to injury (2:30 pm ET; Fox Sports 1, Fox Deportes, TSN2). Lampard was also replaced on the roster for Wednesday's 2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game by New York Red Bulls midfielder Dax McCarty.

Lampard, who signed with expansion side NYCFC last summer, but did not officially join up with the team until July 1 of this year, was initially expected to debut on July 12 against Toronto FC, a 4-4 draw, before picking up a calf strain in training that has since kept him from his debut.

NYCFC head coach Jason Kreis reiterated the need for caution with Lampard's injury ahead of the team's game New England last Saturday, a 1-0 loss.

Lampard will not see the field on Sunday, but fellow Designated Player signing Andrea Pirlo could make his debut, although he is unlikely to start.
