Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando claims second Save of the Week honor of 2014

Just two weeks into the new Major League Soccer season, Nick Rimando is already running away with the Save of the Week honors.

The veteran Real Salt Lake goalkeeper cruised to his second award in as many weeks in Week 2, thanks to nearly 48 percent of the fan vote that favored his reaction save on San Jose star forward Chris Wondolowski over all others.

Rimando made the lunging save on a Wondolowski header in the 22nd minute of the teams’ 3-3 draw last Saturday at Buck Shaw Stadium in San Jose. Rimando won the Week 1 honors for a penalty kick save on LA Galaxy striker Robbie Keane.

Portland Timbers veteran Donovan Ricketts finished second with nearly 25 percent of the vote for his save at the back post on a header from Chicago Fire defender Bakary Soumare in the teams’ 1-1 draw in Portland.

Final Votes - Week 2:

1. Nick Rimando (RSL): 47.95%
2. Donovan Ricketts (POR): 24.45%
3. Zac MacMath (PHI): 9.97%
4. Stefan Frei (SEA): 9.49%
5. Troy Perkins (MTL): 8.14%
