HOW ACQUIRED: Acquired in a trade with the New York Red Bulls on February 23, 2007.
Perhaps the best goalkeeper in MLS history, Rimando is nearing 400 career regular season appearances and still going strong. Rimando is relatively small for a ‘keeper – he’s just 5-foot-9 – but he’s excellent in every phase of the game. He’s a great shot-stopper, has excellent command of his box, has the foot skill of a field player and is an absolute legend when it comes to stopping penalty kicks.
INTERNATIONAL: A member of the US national team at the 2014 World Cup, Rimando has 21 career caps with the USMNT. He’s mostly served as a backup throughout his international career, consistently serving as the third-string ‘keeper under Jurgen Klinsmann during the 2014 World Cup cycle. He was the first-choice ‘keeper at the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup, helping lead the US to the title.
COLLEGE: Rimando played two years at UCLA, leading the Bruins to the College Cup title during his freshman year in 1997.
