TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho on Friday flatly denied speculation that Zlatan Ibrahimovic might make a shock return to Old Trafford after his superlative 2018 season with the LA Galaxy

"Ibra" has enjoyed a startling career revival in MLS, banging in 22 goals as well as 10 assists in just 26 league appearances (23 starts) to drive the Galaxy's unlikely late playoff push and inspire talk of MLS MVP honors. The Swede's performances have been impressive enough to fuel rumors of a second stint with the Red Devils, whom he helped win EFL Cup and Europa League titles in a two-year stint that ended with his move to LA earlier this year.

Asked if there was any possibility of Ibrahimovic rejoining the English superclub, Mourinho – a longtime admirer of Zlatan who also worked with him at Inter Milan – replied simply, "No. No," according to the Manchester Evening News.

Ibra and the Galaxy can secure the Western Conference's sixth and final slot in the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs with a home win over the Houston Dynamo on Sunday (4:30 pm ET | TV and streaming info), one of 11 season finales across the league on Decision Day presented by AT&T.
