A crucial match in the chase of playoff positions in the Western Conference is on tap when Sporting Kansas City meet Vancouver Whitecaps FC for a third time this season, on Saturday evening at Children’s Mercy Park. Sporting return home following a 2-2 draw at MLS overall leaders FC Dallas last weekend, sitting three points above the red line in fifth place in the conference. Whitecaps FC have fallen two points out of the top six, after suffering a third consecutive defeat last weekend in a 2-1 home loss to the San Jose Earthquakes at BC Place.

  • Sporting KC put an end to a three-game losing streak on the road, but still saw their winless streak on their travels extended to 11 games, reaching a 2-2 draw with FC Dallas on Saturday evening at Toyota Stadium. Dom Dwyer scored a pair of goals, his fourth two-goal game of the season, now with 12 goals for the league campaign, sitting in a tie for fifth in the MLS Golden Boot standings.
  • Whitecaps FC had their losing slide extended to three games and their overall winless run now at five matches, after their 2-1 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes on Friday evening at BC Place.
