NEW YORK CITY FC vs. COLORADO RAPIDS
YANKEE STADIUM | Bronx, New York
July 30, 2016 | Week 21 | MLS Game #208
3 pm ET (MLS LIVE)

A top-of-the-table clash kicks off the second half of the MLS season when New York City FC return home to face the Colorado Rapids on Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. NYCFC head back to the Bronx after a four-game road swing, still atop the Eastern Conference after their 4-1 loss at the New York Red Bulls last Sunday. The Rapids are three points out of first place in the Western Conference and the MLS overall table, following their 1-1 draw with overall leader FC Dallas last weekend at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

  • New York City FC weren’t able to build on their 3-1 road win at Montreal on July 17, going down 3-0 before eventually falling 4-1 at the Red Bulls last Sunday. The loss moved NYCFC to 1-2-0 on the year and 1-5-0 all-time against their New York rivals.
  • Colorado failed to get the win that would’ve moved them level with Dallas in the West standings at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park last Saturday, falling victim to a late Victor Ulloa equalizer to tie FCD 1-1 outside Denver. The Rapids trail Dallas by three points in the standings, but lead FCD – who they have three games in hand on – in points per game.
  • Saturday’s meeting will be the second all-time encounter between the Rapids and NYCFC and the first game between the two clubs at Yankee Stadium. The sides tied in their lone matchup in 2015, playing to a scoreless draw at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in the third week of the season.
