Columbus Crew SC's Emil Larsen completes transfer to Danish club Lyngby

Emil Larsen - Columbus Crew SC

Columbus Crew SC announced the transfer of midfielder Emil Larsen to Danish Superliga club Lyngby Boldklub on Sunday.

The Danish international joined Crew SC over the winter, but struggled to make an impact with his new club. He made just three league appearances totaling 31 minutes, in addition to two US Open Cup outings and a start in a friendly vs. Mexican side Veracruz on May 11.

Last month Danish media reports claimed that Larsen, 25, was eager to return to his homeland after his brief tenure in MLS.

“This is an opportunity that allows Emil to return to his native country in his hometown and gain more regular minutes,” said Columbus head coach and sporting director Gregg Berhalter in a club statement. “We want to thank Emil for his contributions to the team and we wish him success in the next stage of his career.”

Larsen originally joined Crew SC on January 22 after last playing for Odense Boldklub, also of the Danish Superliga.
