Chicago Fire head coach Veljko Paunovic hangs with NBA's Nikola Mirotic at Chicago Bulls game

Veljko Paunovic hasn’t been in Chicago long, but the new Fire head coach already has some friends in the Windy City.

The 38-year-old Serbian manager met with an old acquaintance on Monday night, chatting with Chicago Bulls Montenegrin power forward Nikola Mirotic before taking in the Bulls’ loss to the Miami Heat at the United Center.

Paunovic and Mirotic go back to their respective days in Madrid. The two were neighbors in the Spanish capital, where Paunovic spent many years playing for La Liga club Atletico Madrid and Mirotic played for Real Madrid’s basketball squad.

Mirotic apparently claims that he’s got some soccer skills – we’re still awaiting word on whether or not Paunovic can hoop.
