1. USMNT PREP FOR TRINIDAD
The US national team eased past tiny St Vincent & the Grenadines on Friday and now are preparing for Tuesday's match with Trinidad and Tobago (6:30 pm ET, beIN Sports). US Soccer Federation President Sunil Gulati addressed many of the chatter about Jurgen Klinsmann’s role as head coach of the US national team, stating, “we expect to qualify; we expect Jurgen to be our coach.”
4. CANADA’S GREAT START
Canada got off to the best start imaginable in their Word Cup Qualifying group, beating nemeses Honduras 1-0 at BC Place on Friday. Junior Hoilett earned rave reviews on his competitive Canadian debut, and the Canadians are now thinking seriously about reaching the Hex.
5. CAN CANUCKS KEEP IT GOING?
Benito Floro's side will now turn to their next task, in El Salvador on Tuesday (8:30 pm ET, beIN SPORTS), and as Julian de Guzman approaches an appearance milestone for the national team, he's keeping his eyes on the bigger picture.
6. MEXICO’S NEW BEGINNING
Mexico also made a strong start to World Cup Qualifying, beating El Salvador 3-0 at home on Friday. There were plenty of promising signs in Juan Carlos Osorio’s first game in charge, but that doesn’t mean he won't switch things up for their next test against Honduras.
7. BIELLO GETS THE IMPACT JOB
The Montreal Impact officially removed the interim tag from Mauro Biello’s job title, a decision that club owner Joey Saputo says came down to Biello’s confidence. It seems the Impact aren’t done there either, as the club is working to bring back a trio of key players in 2016.
8. ORLANDO CITY IN BRAZIL
Orlando City's friendly vs. Flamengo at the Maracana in Rio didn't go Orlando's way, but the game did allow Pedro Ribeiro to fulfill a lifelong dream.
9. US U-23S IN BRAZIL
The Lions weren’t the only ones to lose in Brazil on Sunday. The US Under-23 national team fell 5-1 to Brazil's U-23 side.
10. OTHER INTERNATIONAL ACTION
There were plenty of MLS players in nternational action over the weekend. The big news was that Sporting Kansas City's Krisztian Nemeth and Hungary qualified for Euro 2016 with an aggregate playoff series win against Norway.
11. KEANE AND DOYLE FOR IRELAND
MLS stars Robbie Keane and Kevin Doyle did not feature in Ireland's 1-1 draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday, but could be involved on Monday as the Republic of Ireland host Bosnia-Herzegovina in the second leg of their Euro 2016 qualification playoff.
