UEFA Euro 2016: Krisztian Nemeth and Hungary qualify for first time since 1972

Krisztian Nemeth celebrates for Hungary

There appears to be something magic about this generation of Magyars.

Krisztian Nemeth and Hungary got a 2-1 over Norway on Sunday, winning their two-legged aggregate tie by 3-1 and advancing to next summer's UEFA European Championship in France. It marks their first trip to the Euros since 1972 and the country's first major tournament appearance of any sort since the 1986 World Cup.

Nemeth, who had 10 goals and six assists in 28 regular season appearances for Sporting KC this year, got on the field for the final 16 minutes. He has appeared a career-high seven times for Hungary in 2015, scoring two of his three career international goals.

Hungary are the 21st team to qualify for next season's tournament, which is the first to expand from 16 to 24 teams. The rest of the field will be filled out over the next 48 hours as Ireland host Bosnia & Herzegovina after tieing the first leg 1-1; Denmark and Sweden square off in Copenhagen with the Swedes holding a 2-1 advantage; and Slovenia head home to try to overturn a 2-0 deficit to Ukraine.

The Euros kick off on June 10, 2016.
