Save of the Week update: Real Salt Lake's Jeff Attinella leading in quest for second award of season

MLS Save of the Week: Week 21

Nick Rimando is no stranger to Save of the Week awards. But his Real Salt Lake backup is set to tie him for the number of times honored this season.

Jeff Attinella has a mighty comfortable lead in Week 21 Save of the Week voting, having garnered 48.31 percent of the vote as of Thursday evening. Should he hold on for the win, it would be his second SotW award this season, equaling Rimando’s total.

New York City FC’s Josh Saunders, in a bid for his first award of the season, is running in a distant second with 16.33 percent of the vote. Houston Dynamo’s Tyler Deric, gunning for a whopping fifth award of the year, trails Saunders by just a point with 15.24 percent.

Columbus Crew SC’s Steve Clark (12.36) and LA Galaxy’s Brian Rowe (7.76) round out the list.

Can Attinella draw even with his RSL counterpart? Or do Saunders or Deric have a late run in them? Vote now – the winner will be announced Friday.

Voting runs until 11:59 pm PT on Thusdays. For complete coverage of the AT&T MLS Save of the Week – including an archive of all of this season’s nominees and winners – click here.
