The New England Revolution return home looking to put the brakes on their recent slide, facing a crucial contest in the Eastern Conference when they meet New York City FC on Saturday evening at Gillette Stadium. The Revolution suffered their fifth loss on the trot last week, falling 4-1 at the New York Red Bulls. NYCFC are now just three points further behind the Revolution in the East, after reaching a 4-4 draw with Toronto FC last Sunday at Yankee Stadium.

  • The teams are meeting for the second time this season. David Villa and Patrick Mullins scored in each half to lead NYCFC to a 2-0 win March 15 at Yankee Stadium, the first win in the club’s history.

  • New York City FC scored the first goal in their Yankee Stadium history in the 19th minute. It started with a darting run from the left side by David Villa, before playing a quick one-two with Ned Grabavoy. Villa received the return ball just inside the 18-yard box, took two more touches and finished clinically inside the far post for his first MLS goal.
  • The Revolution went a man in the 66th minute when substitute Khiry Shelton got behind the New England defense and was pulled down from behind by Jose Goncalves, who was shown a straight red card by referee Mark Geiger.
  • The game was put on ice in the 84th minute when Villa put in a cross and second-half substitute Patrick Mullins slid in at the back post to knock it home and seal NYCFC's first MLS victory.
