New York City FC and Philadelphia Union meet in the return match of their home-and-home series over the past week when the clubs face off Thursday evening at Yankee Stadium. Union won for the first time in 2015 in the first meeting and handed NYCFC a second consecutive defeat, a stoppage-time goal providing the 2-1 margin Saturday afternoon at PPL Park. The teams are now tied in the Eastern Conference with 5 points on the campaign.

  • This is the back end of a home-and-home series between the teams over a five-day span, the first meetings ever between the clubs.
  • Vincent Nogueira’s goal in stoppage time gave Union a 2-1 victory Saturday afternoon at PPL Park, their first victory of the season. A deflection of an Eric Ayuk Mbu shot that hit Zach Pfeffer before rolling into the goal sent Union on their way.
  • David Villa scored his second MLS goal in bringing NYCFC level in the second half. The tally was the club’s first since March 15, ending a 241-minute goalless drought.
  • New York City FC saw their winless streak extended to three matches in the defeat in Chester, their second consecutive loss.
