American Exports: Daniel Williams' Reading drop second straight home match in English Championship

Danny Williams with Reading

AMSTERDAM – Daniel Williams and Reading were edged out at the Majedski Stadium on Tuesday night, falling 1-0 to Championship guests Wigan.

The US midfielder worked 83 decent minutes in the center of the park, completing 19 of 23 passes on the night. Williams had three shot attempts blocked, including a 71st-minute chance from about 16 yards out.

The American was less busy at the other end, notching two tackles, a pass interception and a blocked shot of his own.

Thanks to the result, 17th-place Reading have now dropped consecutive home games for the first time in just shy of a year.
