American and Canadian players won't be the only MLS representation at the upcoming CONCACAF Under-20 Championship in Jamaica, which will run from January 9-24 and determine the four CONCACAF participants in the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held in New Zealand from May 30-June 20.
Three current MLS players and at least four players currently rostered with MLS academy programs were named to rosters from their respective countries.
Playing for the host country, Jamaica, is 18-year-old D.C. United Homegrown Player Michael Seaton (pictured), who already has 12 senior caps entering his third professional season. Orlando City's Bryan Róchez, recently signed as the youngest Designated Player in MLS history, will represent Honduras. And FC Dallas Homegrown Player Jesse Gonzalez is one of two goalkeepers named to the Mexican squad.
Players from MLS academies who will be competing include: New York Red Bulls forward Derrick Etienne (Haiti), who made several starts for the Red Bulls in MLS Reserve League play in 2014, New England Revolution defender Zach Herivaux (Haiti), FC Dallas midfielder Andy Ruiz (Guatemala) and Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Johan Welch (Trinidad & Tobago).
Longwood University goalkeeper Carlos Cañas (El Salvador), who played with the D.C. United academy in high school, was also named to his country's roster.
