HOW ACQUIRED: Acquired by the Portland Timbers via trade with D.C. United on August 6, 2015.
In 2013, Michael Seaton became the fifth player to sign with D.C. United from the club’s bourgeoning academy, which also produced pros Andy Najar and Bill Hamid. It wasn’t hard to see what they valued in his game. Seaton is a talented forward with a versatile skill set that would seem to fit into a number of different tactical schemes. He can pull double duty as a second forward or a target striker, and his brief track record so far proves he can bag goals when the pressure is on.
INTERNATIONAL: Seaton steadily climbed his way up the Jamaican national team ladder before making his senior debut in 2013. Since then, he’s made more than a dozen appearances for the Reggae Boyz, which includes a pair of goals.
OUTSIDE MLS: Seaton’s spent some time on loan outside MLS, notably with the Richmond Kickers in the USL in 2013 and 2014. He also spent a short loan spell with Örebro SK in Sweden in 2015.
