The Vancouver Whitecaps announced on Tuesday that they have re-signed midfielder Mauro Rosales. Per Major League Soccer and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Argentine midfielder recorded three assists in 11 regular-season appearances and one playoff start with Vancouver after arriving from Chivas via a midseason trade. Rosales, 33, opted out of Stage 1 of the MLS Re-Entry Draft on Friday, fueling speculation that a deal had been reached.

"We're very pleased to bring Mauro back," Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson said in a statement. "Mauro was a crucial part of our run to the playoffs last season. His experience and leadership will continue to be valuable to our squad."

Between the Whitecaps and the Goats, Rosales notched a combined 11 assists in 32 MLS appearances in 2014, eighth-most in the league and second-most on the 'Caps. A former regular for the Seattle Sounders from 2011-2013, Rosales was voted MLS Newcomer of the Year in 2011. His 45 regular-season assists since 2011 are tied for second most during that period with Landon Donovan, trailing only Houston winger Brad Davis (48).
