Bradley Wright-Phillips has already secured a prominent place in the MLS record books after tying Roy Lassiter (1996) and Chris Wondolowski (2012) with 27 goals in a single regular season, but he's not done yet.

Wright-Phillips followed up a two-goal performance in the Eastern Conference Knockout Round win over Sporting Kansas City with another goal against D.C. United last Sunday to put him in range of another league mark: the single-season record for total MLS goals scored, in both regular-season and playoff competition combined.

Lassiter scored six goals for Tampa Bay in five playoff games in 1996, lifting him to 33 for the year. Five of those postseason tallies came in a three-game series against Columbus, while Lassiter also scored once when eventual champions D.C. United swept the Mutiny out of the postseason in the Eastern Conference Championship.

Wright-Phillips' two goals against Kansas City and one against United gave him 30 total MLS goals in 2014, just three behind Lassiter's mark. With the Red Bulls up 2-0 heading into the second leg, Wright-Phillips has a chance for at least three more games this year should they hold their advantage.

The Red Bulls' Englishman is actually third in all-time total MLS goals in a season, because the LA Galaxy's Carlos Ruiz scored a ridiculous 32 total MLS goals in 32 games in 2002, including eight playoff goals that led the Galaxy to the title.
