American Exports: Tijuana's Greg Garza leaves Chivas Guadalajara duel with head injury

Greg Garza on the run for Tijuana

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – US international Greg Garza went 70 minutes for Club Tijuana in its 3-3 away draw against Chivas on Sunday before coming off with a head injury that left him looking groggy after the game.

Garza told MLSsoccer.com after the game that he continued on the field following a blow to the head early in the match and that he is set to undergo precautionary tests in Tijuana on Monday.

Garza started his 12th match of the season at left back and was at fault on Chivas’ first goal. The Texan lost Giovani Hernandez, who headed a left-wing cross back across goal for former Kansas City forward Omar Bravo to tap into an open net in the 35th minute to equalize for Chivas.

The late equalizer in second-half injury time by Chivas defender Jair Pereira was cruel for Xolos and means they are in 13th place – two points off the playoffs – with three rounds of regular-season matches still to play in the 2014 Apertura.
