American Exports: No transfer deal yet for Rapid Vienna forward Terrence Boyd

Terrence Boyd celebrates a goal for Rapid Vienna

AMSTERDAM – The summer transfer race for US international Terrence Boyd remains wide open, MLSsoccer.com has learned, with Red Bull Leipzig, Sporting CP and Wigan Athletic all still attempting to capture the Rapid Vienna hitman.

Several Austrian and German outlets claimed on Friday afternoon that the 23-year-old has already signed with the ambitious 2.Bundesliga Red Bulls, but both Rapid Vienna and Boyd's agent have poured cold water on those reports.

"He has not signed any deal yet," Boyd's rep, Konstantin Liolios, told MLSsoccer.com on Friday. "[Rapid] are thinking about going into negotiations with one of the teams, but Terrence has also still not made a decision about where he would like to go."

One of the final seven players cut from the United States national team's World Cup roster, Boyd is coming off a career-best campaign, having scored 20 goals in 38 games across all competitions.

He is also entering the final year of his Rapid deal, but the Austrian runners-up are proving eager to hang on to their top scorer. Or at least to make sure they are properly compensated.
