If you listen closely, you can hear someone shout "golazo" shortly after the ball was kicked. That's how perfect José Mari's strike was.
The Spanish newcomer bagged a brace to help the Colorado Rapids pick up a 2-1, come-from-behind win over the Vancouver Whitecaps last weekend, and it included a wicked bender that is as spectacular a strike as you are likely to see this season. The goal sparked Colorado's late rally and also won Week 5's AT&T MLS Goal of the Week award by a landslide.
The 79th-minute equalizer claimed more than 54 percent of the vote. The Portland Timbers' Diego Chara finished in second place and ahead of two teammates, but he was well behind José Mari at 13.3 percent.
