GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Jonathan Bornstein was handed a rare start by Tigres UANL coach Ricardo Ferretti and completed 90 minutes for the first time this season in his team’s 0-0 draw with Cruz Azul Hidalgo in the Copa MX on Wednesday at Estadio Universitario.
Bornstein played in central midfield for Tigres – with Ferretti resting players ahead of the Clásico Regio this weekend - and was smart in keeping the ball and spraying passes around in the Group 2 matchup.
In Group 6, Texan forward Sonny Guadarrama came on at halftime as Necaxa tied 0-0 with Chivas at Estadio Omnilife and was close to breaking the deadlock in the 57th minute, when he stretched to get on the end of a right wing cross.
Finally, in Group 1, a pair of American youngsters featured in the 1-1 draw between Monterrey and Correcaminos. Ernest Nungaray played the first 45 in his debut for Correcaminos, while Alonso Hernandez went the full 90 for Monterrey.
