Toronto Head Coach John Carver playing a very different starting 11 than he fielded in the first game against Houston on Wednesday as they faced a D.C. squad full of young players. Canadian Kevin Harmse made his debut for the team after joining the team on Thursday from the L.A. Galaxy.

Midfielder Gabe Gala generated the first chance for TFC 11 minutes in as he hit Martin Brittain on the far right side with nice ball, Brittain, who is on trial with the team found 2008 MLS Superdraft pick Mike Zaher in good position in the box and his one timer just flew over top of Zach Wells in the D.C. goal.

Play was quick in the first half with end to end action, but not a whole lot of chances generated by either side. Brian Edwards in the TFC goal was called into action in the 33rd making a great save by tipping a strike by Jamil Walker up and over the goal as these two finished scoreless at the half.

Two minutes after the restart - a great chance by Toronto started off by a big run by Collin Samuel as he took the ball all the way into the D.C end, proving his fitness. Samuel spotting Zaher in the box whose quick strike that was headed for the far corner of the goal just went wide.

The game appeared as though it would finish scoreless when 6 minutes from time D.C. found the back of the net. Quavas Kirk the set up man for Josh Gardiner as his header left Edwards flat footed and that goal proved to be the winner as D.C. claimed their second win of the tournament after defeating Chivas USA on Wednesday by a score of 2-1.

Toronto will wrap up the Texas tournament on Sunday afternoon in the finale against Chivas USA in a 3p.m local start time.

Thoughts from Head Coach John Carver: "To be fair to D.C. they had a young side out tonight full of enthusiasm. I'm disappointed that we lost the game but the boys did everything I asked them to do, they worked hard, they worked very hard, and we played some good football in the second half on a difficult surface. I think Brian Edwards had one shot to save in the whole game apart from the goal and I think we had 7 or 8 good chances. It's on the training ground tomorrow for some shooting practice."
