Randolph called up to U.S. U-23 team

LA Galaxy defender Mike Randolph has been named to Peter Nowak's U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team roster that will travel to China on a two-match tour. This is the 22 year-old's first ever career call-up to the National Team at any level.

In his first full season with the Galaxy, Randolph broke into the starting line up by stepping in for an injured Ante Jazic at left back. He made his MLS debut on April 12 in a 2-1 loss against FC Dallas and went on to appear in 19 games making 15 starts and registering one assist.

Randolph will report to the U-23's on Dec. 1 in Carson and train for a week before departing for China on Dec. 8. The U.S. will play two matches against the Chinese U-23's, first on Dec. 13 at the Changsha He Long Sports Centre in Changsha and then three days later at the Yue Xiu Shan Stadium in Guangzhou on Dec. 16.

The one-week training camp will be the first gathering of the U-23 National Team since Nowak took the reigns in August, and is the first major camp in preparation for the final round action of the 2008 CONCACAF Men's Under-23 Championship to be held from March 11-23, 2008, in Los Angeles, Tampa and Nashville. The eight-team tournament will send the two finalists to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
