Lalas to be keynote speaker at 10th Annual Honda Soccer Symposium

CARSON, Calif. - LA Galaxy President and General Manager Alexi Lalas will be one of three keynote speakers at the 10th Annual Honda Soccer Symposium at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles on Thursday, October 4. The event will begin with a 9:30 a.m. breakfast in the Bernard Room, which will be followed by addresses from Lalas, as well as U.S. National Team Manager Bob Bradley and Mexican Football Federation General Secretary Decio de Maria.


Pachuca, who won the inaugural SuperLiga by defeating the Galaxy on August 29, as well as winning the CONCACAF Champions Cup, Copa Sudamericana and the Mexican Clausura will be honored for their achievements over the past year, with Sports Director Andrea Fassi on hand to accept the honor.


The 10th Annual Honda Soccer Symposium will see the three collected speakers discuss the state of soccer in the United States, Mexico and around the world. Lalas will talk about the impact of David Beckham on Major League Soccer and the state of MLS both before his signing and today.


One day after the symposium, Honda will be back at the Biltmore Hotel to award the annual Honda Player of the Year Award, which is given annually to the best player in U.S. Soccer. Galaxy forward Landon Donovan is one of three finalists, along with defender Carlos Bocanegra and goalkeeper Tim Howard, for the award which he won previously in 2002, 2003 and 2004.


The Galaxy are back in action on Sunday when they take on the Houston Dynamo at Robertson Stadium in a game that can be seen live on FSN West or Telefutura starting at 12 p.m. The Galaxy return home for a match against Toronto FC on Saturday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. at The Home Depot Center. This match, which is presented by Bank of America, will be Fan Appreciation Night for the Galaxy, giving the club a chance to thank their fans for the great support that they have received all season long.
