L.A. strikes deal with ESPN Deportes Radio

CARSON, Calif. - The LA Galaxy have entered into a multi-year broadcasting agreement with ESPN Deportes Radio KWKW 1330 AM, the most popular Spanish language sports station in Southern California, it was announced today by Tom Payne, Assistant General Manager of the LA Galaxy, and Jim Kalmenson, President of ESPN Deportes. This deal makes ESPN Deportes the Galaxy's official Spanish language radio station and game-day broadcaster.

"ESPN Deportes Radio is the first place fans go to get the most in-depth and up-to-date sports news in the region and now it will be the number one choice for our fans to go to for all the latest information on the Galaxy."


Under the terms of the agreement, ESPN Deportes will provide coverage of all 30 Galaxy games, both home and away, in 2008. In addition to two-hours of game coverage and a pre and post-game show, KWKW 1330 AM will offer a weekly program every Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. dedicated exclusively to Galaxy news and information.

The play-by-play broadcasts will be hosted by legendary broadcaster Rolando "El Veloz" Gonzalez and morning personality Celso Gaspar. ESPN Deportes 1330 AM is the most popular Spanish sports station in the United States and has been continuously owned by Lotus Communications Corporation since 1962.


The club opens their 13th season of play on Saturday, March 29 against the Colorado Rapids at 6:30 p.m. (PT), live on Fox Soccer Channel from Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. LA will play their home opener five days later on Thursday, April 3 when they host former head coach Frank Yallop and the San Jose Earthquakes at 7:30 p.m. at The Home Depot Center.
