Fire head coach Juan Carlos Osorio resigns

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Fire announced today that Juan Carlos Osorio has decided to leave the Fire for personal, family reasons. Osorio is expected to join the New York Red Bulls as head coach after having been with the Fire since July 7.

"Despite the Fire's best efforts to keep Juan in Chicago, he determined that he needed to leave Chicago for family and personal reasons," said Fire President John Guppy. "While we certainly respect his decision, the timing of the departure was unexpected and is unfortunate. All of our attention is now focused on finding the right coach for our team."

The Fire will receive compensation from the Red Bulls in the form of draft picks, salary cap allocation money and cash. Specific transaction details will not be disclosed.

The Fire will begin the search for a new head coach immediately.
