Dynamo peg Barlow with 56th pick

The Houston Dynamo selected midfielder Jeremy Barlow with the 56TH pick of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, it was announced today.

Barlow hails from the University of Virginia. During his time there, the Herndon, Va. native was selected to the All-ACC Second Team (2007). He was also a member of the Second Team VaSID All State (2005, 2004), and was picked as the ACC Tournament MVP (2004). Other accomplishments also include the ACC All Freshman Team (2004). "I am very excited about this opportunity," said Barlow. "Being selected by a team that has won the MLS Cup two years in a row gives me the chance to elevate the game to new heights. I look forward to helping the Dynamo make a run for a third-consecutive MLS title."

"(Barlow) is a good player who likes to play wide and take care of the ball. He is also technically very good, which played in his favor when it came to selecting him over other players," said Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear.

Houston opens the 2008 regular season on Saturday, March 29, against the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium. The Dynamo will open its home schedule on Sunday, April 6, against intrastate rival FC Dallas. Kickoff for this game is 2 p.m. CT.
