Champions crowned in 2006 Jetix Kids Cup Nationals Finals

Six youth soccer teams from around the country convened at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, TX on Saturday, May 20 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. for the Jetix Kids Cup National Finals Tournament, organized by Major League Soccer. In the Girls national final, the Elmhurst Tornadoes from Elmhurst, IL defeated Girls with Attitude from Denver, CO by a score of 3-0. In the Boys national final, Real Celaya from Chicago, IL defeated Casa Mia's Bays from Baltimore, MD. The winning teams were presented with their awards at midfield during pre-game of the FC Dallas vs. New England Revolution match taking place after the tournament. The Jetix Kids Cup National Champions have qualified for the Jetix Kids Cup International Finals to compete in Munich against teams from 12 other countries July 2-7.


Teams of youth players aged 10-12 from across the U.S. who qualified in regional events held in Chicago, Denver and Washington, D.C. competed in these spirited games. The youth tournament was attended by FC Dallas players Kenny Cooper, Dax McCarty, Justin Moore, Abe Thompson and Blake Wagner. In addition, FC Dallas assistant coach Marco Feruzzi gave an inspirational speech to the participants before they hit the field and FC Dallas defender Bobby Rhine provided some words of wisdom at the Friday night banquet. The action-packed, five-a-side national soccer event promotes the importance of kids leading active and healthy lifestyles, as well as the values of sportsmanship, fair play, cultural exchange and the pure exhilarating fun of athleticism.


The teams that participated in the Jetix Kids Cup National Finals took a stadium tour of Pizza Hut Park and attended the May 20th FC Dallas vs. New England Revolution match. The Jetix Kids Cup National Boys Finalists were: Real Celaya from Chicago, IL, Chivas Blue from Denver, CO, and the Casa Mia's Bays from Baltimore, MD. The Girls finalists included: the Elmhurst Tornadoes from Elmhurst, IL, Girls with Attitude from Denver, CO, and Parkville Heat from Baltimore, MD.


"Jetix Kids Cup," an energetic short-form television series, will highlight the fun and adventure from the regional tournaments and the finals. It will be presented during Jetix Programming Blocks on Toon Disney and on ABC-TV's Saturday Morning ABC Kids block.
