Ramapo Valley Soccer Club joins Student of the Game program

SECAUCUS, N.J. - The MetroStars proudly announced Ramapo Valley Soccer Club (NY) have become the clubs third "Student of the Game" partner on Wednesday.

"We are honored that Ramapo Valley Soccer Club have agreed to become a partner in our Student of the Game program," said MetroStars Vice President of Ticketing Steve Powell. "We are in serious discussions with several other visionary youth soccer organizations in the area who are considering the Student of the Game program. Due to the high volume of deliverables provided by the MetroStars, we are limiting the number of partners to just twenty. We are once again thrilled to have Ramapo Valley Soccer Club on board and look forward to welcoming additional new Student of the Game partners in the near future."

The program is designed to provide youth soccer clubs in the tri-state area with a series of educational, motivational and inspirational benefits to assist players but also coaches and parents. The recruitment and retention of parent volunteers remains a challenge for most youth soccer organizations. The "Student of the Game" program provides clubs with various tools aimed at assisting in this area. One aspect of the program is a special Club-Night-Out at Giants Stadium for a MetroStars home game. The purpose of this outing is to give youth players the opportunity to watch a game live, learn from professionals and provide parents an opportunity to meet each other in a social setting. The "Club Night Out" is the ultimate team-building event.

Ramapo Valley Soccer Club, Board of Directors and Metrostars Program Coordinator, Paul Magliano, spoke about his clubs experiences at previous trips to MetroStars games and their future relationship as a "Student of the Game" partner.

"Ramapo Valley Soccer Club has been a partner with the Metrostars for the past two seasons. I have been impressed with the care that all of the Metrostars personnel, including players, have shown to our club. The Student of the Game program makes professional soccer players real to our players. Not only can our kids pass the ball around with a professional player, they can touch them and then watch them play a game. Our club days are always a success with hundreds of players and families tailgating and cheering for the Metrostars. This coming year will be spectacular. We have already begun planning several club outings to the stadium this season. Also, beginning this Fall, we are pleased to announce, and be a part of, the creation of the Ramapo Recreation Soccer League which will serve players from K through 12th grade. This will enable us to introduce hundreds of children to soccer and The Metrostars."

Through this partnership, a member of the MetroStars coaching staff will travel to Suffern, NY and lead the club's coaches through clinics and give them tips on game strategy and team tactics. The MetroStars will assist soccer clubs with their fundraising efforts throughout the season and organize sportsmanship clinics designed by specialists to help create players who are successful both on and off the field.

Additionally, Ramapo Valley's Student of the Game participants will be able to develop personal relationships with MetroStars players through player appearances at their respective home fields. They also will receive a monthly newsletter from MetroStars players with training tips that will help bring their game to the next level.
