Klein replaces Noonan on U.S. roster

we'll find out later."

Revolution head coach Steve Nicol correctly predicted that Noonan would not make the trip to Germany. That was confirmed on Thursday when U.S. Soccer announced that Klein would replace Noonan on the 20-man roster.

Nine MLS players will make the cross-Atlantic trek for the USA's first game outside of the country in 2006. Los Angeles Galaxy defender Todd Dunivant was the only MLS defender that Arena had summoned, but Klein has recently seen action both in the midfield and in defense for the Red, White and Blue.

Klein was one of the bright spots in Arena's side in last weekend's convincing 4-0 shutout of Guatemala at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas. He recorded a goal and two assists from his position on the right wing. Klein also found the net for the U.S. in a 5-0 win over Norway on Jan. 29.

Noonan has one assist in two appearances this year for the U.S. team. He started in both the Norway victory and the side's 3-2 win over Japan on Feb. 10. Noonan missed the Guatemala match after being released by Arena to take part in the CONCACAF Champions' Cup with the Revolution. He was one of eight players released by Arena for the competition.

The Los Angeles Galaxy are the other side participating in the regional club championship, and they will take on Deportivo Saprissa on Thursday night at The Home Depot Center (11 p.m. ET, FSC). Dunivant and midfielder Landon Donovan will both take part in that match before departing for Europe with the U.S. team.
