Contrary to appearances on the Besiktas Twitter account,  the Turkish club have not yet completed a transfer move for striker Cyle Larin, according to a statement issued by Orlando City SC on Saturday:

Orlando City SC is aware of the announcement made by BeÅŸiktaÅŸ J.K. regarding forward Cyle Larin. The Club has not agreed to terms on a transfer of Larin and will take all necessary action against BeÅŸiktaÅŸ in response to the announcement. Larin remains under contract with Orlando City through 2019 and is expected to join his teammates at preseason camp later this month.

Orlando's statement comes hours after Besiktas appeared to announce they'd acquired the Canada national team forward, who to date has spent his entire three-year pro career with the Lions.

The photos of Larin in a Besiktas shirt and undergoing medical tests validated reports Friday that the 22-year-old forward was in fact in Istanbul, and also questions about what is and isn't official.

Besiktas have been linked to Larin for nearly a month now, and have just completed the sale of star forward Cenk Tosun to Everton in England.

And a European move has appeared a question of "where" rather than "if" for Larin, who after scoring 43 league goals over three seasons expressed his desire to move across the Atlantic last October.

But an Orlando spokesperson Friday said the club had yet to receive an offer for Larin, before the team doubled down a day later.
