TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

The LA Galaxy have signed MLS veteran defender Oniel Fisher as a free agent, the club announced Monday.

The Jamaican international right back has made 66 appearances in Major League Soccer since 2015 during his time with Seattle Sounders FC and D.C. United.

“We are excited to have Oniel join the LA Galaxy,” LA Galaxy general manager Dennis te Kloese said in a statement. “He is a talented defender who can play multiple positions along the backline and brings versatility and MLS experience to our defense. We look forward to him joining our club.”

Fisher, who has been capped 15 times with the Reggae Boyz, had six starts in 15 appearances in 2020 with D.C. United. His contract option was declined at the season's conclusion. He missed the 2019 season after undergoing surgery for a partially torn ACL, MCL, PCL and medial meniscus suffered late in the 2018 season.

Fisher should provide cover for Julian Araujo, who is coming off a massive 2020 in which he started all 17 matches he appeared in for the Galaxy and made his US men's national team debut.
