Impact's Saphir Taider called up by Algeria for Cup of Nations qualifier

Montreal Impact'sSaphir Taider has been called into Algeria's squad as they resume their bid to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations against The Gambia.


Taider has been capped by Algeria 42 times, scoring five goals, after representing France at various youth levels. He featured for Algeria in the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2015 African Cup of Nations. He was called in for two friendlies in March but did not appear in either match.

Since joining the Impact this winter, Taider has started 26 of the team's 27 games, missing his only match due to a red card suspension. He has scored five goals and added five assists as the Impact hover above the playoff line.
