Trade With the secondary transfer window about to close (which includes intra-MLS trades), Goal.com's Ives Galarcep reported on Aug. 9 that Orlando are working on a deal with Colorado to acquire M Dillon Powers and send M Luis Gil the other way to Central Florida. The trade was confirmed on Aug. 10.
Signing Orlando City confirmed the reports on Aug. 4, announcing M Yoshimar Yotun was signed as a Designated Player from Malmo. In addition to playing at the Copa America Centenario, he also played in the 2011 and 2015 Copa America tournaments.
Report A report from the Orlando Sentinel on Aug. 4 indicated that Orlando City SC is close to signing a South American midfielder who "started in the Copa America Centenario last summer for his country and has played in World Cup qualifiers, per sources." Subsequent updates on Aug. 4 from Paul Tenorio and Alicia DelGallo indicate the player is Peruvian international Yoshimar Yotun, who most recently played in Sweden for Malmo.
Trade On July 25, Sporting Kansas City and Orlando City completed the most lucrative trade in league history, with Sporting sending star striker Dom Dwyer to Orlando in exchange for $400,000 in General Allocation Money, $500,000 in Targeted Allocation Money, and $700,000 in future allocation money based on performance. In total, the trade package could reach $1.6 million in allocation monies.
Report The Orlando Sentinel reports that "a source with direct knowledge of the club's transfer goals" says the Lions hope to do their first business of the summer window in the coming week.
