Summer 2017 MLS Transfer Window Tracker: Chicago Fire

Last updated: August 29, 2017

Report Daily Herald reporter Orrin Schwarz reported on Aug. 29 that F Max Beister has joined the Fire for a trial stint. A former Germany youth international, the 26-year-old is on the books of Bundesliga side Mainz 05 and most recently spent time in Australia on a loan stint with Melbourne Victory.
Transfer Chicago announced on Aug. 11 they have acquired G Richard Sanchez through the Allocation Order, after making a trade with Portland to move up the Order to No. 6 in exchange for a 2018 MLS SuperDraft third-round pick (conditionally a second-round pick if he makes more than five appearances in 2017). Sanchez, 23, joins from Tigres UANL, after beginning his career as an FC Dallas Homegrown signing.
Trade The Fire officially acquired D Christian Dean from the Vancouver Whitecaps in exchange for up to $100,000 combined in General Allocation Money and Targeted Allocation Money.
Report English-based journalist Michael Warrington reported on Twitter on Aug. 9 that the Fire were one of three MLS clubs interested in English M Gareth Barry. The 36-year-old currently plays for Everton, where he's been since 2014.
Report FourFourTwo's Paul Tenorio reported on Aug. 9 that Chicago are in the process of finalizing a trade for Vancouver D Christian Dean.
Report On Aug. 4, Guillermo Rivera from the Chicago Fire Confidential Blog reported that German second division side Hannover 96 is preparing an offer for David Accam, who was reportedly pushing for a transfer (see below). Per Rivera, the transfer free offer could reach $4 Million.
Report Ives Galarcep of Goal.com writes that David Accam would like to move on from the Fire, and that it could happen should Chicago acquire Colombian Juan Quintero. With 11 goals and seven assists, the Ghanaian Accam is having his best MLS season, but he has only been in coach Veljko Paunovic's starting XI in two of Chicago's last five league matches after an apparent falling out between the two.
Report According to Yahoo Sports France, Ligue 1 club Guingamp is bidding $3 million for Chicago Fire attacker David Accam. The Ghana international has been in top form this season for the Fire, recording 10 goals and seven assists in 17 games.
Report Although Colombian midfielder Juan Quintero said on July 10 that he's bound for MLS, a report from Chicago writer Guillermo Rivera indicates that the chances of the Fire being the club to sign him are "not very high." ESPN's Taylor Twellman previously reported that Chicago are the frontrunners for his signature (see below).
Report Chicago are reportedly favorites to land Colombian international Juan Quintero should he sign with MLS, according to a report by ESPN's Taylor Twellman on July 8. The 24-year-old left-footed playmaker is currently on loan in his native country at Independiente Medellin from Portuguese giants FC Porto. Twellman noted that bringing Quintero to the Fire would be a "complicated move but multiple people have said [Chicago] can pull it off."
Report The Chicago Fire are apparently in the running to sign Polish international Jakub “Kuba” Blaszczykowski, according to a report out of Poland on June 13. The 31-year-old winger, who was reportedly chased by Chicago last year, moved from Borussia Dortmund to Wolfsburg last summer. He has 90 caps with the Polish national team.
