Report: David Beckham speaks with Phil Neville about Inter Miami CF coach vacancy

David Beckham has held discussions with former Manchester United teammate and current England women's national team head coach Phil Neville about the coaching vacancy at Inter Miami CF, according to a report from ESPN's Mark Ogden.

Beckham, Inter Miami's co-owner and president of soccer operations, is reportedly set to offer Neville the reigns to start the 2021 MLS season. Neville has said that he's stepping down from his post with England later this year, but Ogden reports that the 43-year-old could seek an arrangement with the English Football Association to soon fill the Miami opening.

The report emerges as Inter Miami parted ways with coach Diego Alonso on Thursday. During their expansion season in 2020, they finished 10th in the Eastern Conference standings and were eliminated in the Play-In Round of the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs by Nashville SC. The club also saw sporting director Paul McDonough step down in December, leading to an offseason of change in Florida.

Beckham and Neville know each other well thanks to their playing days at Manchester United. Beckham suited up for the Premier League side from 1992-2003, overlapping heavily with Neville's stint from 1994-2005. During his managerial career, Neville has led England since 2018.
