Liga MX side Club Tijuana are interested in signing Atlanta United center back Fernando Meza, according to Heriberto Munoz's recent story in Mexican outlet El Imparcial. The Apertura season concludes just as the 2020 MLS season winds down, so it'd likely be for the Clausura portion.

The report outlines that Club Tijuana, nicknamed Xolos, maintained an undisclosed percentage of the 30-year-old’s "card" upon his original move to MLS last January. Meza initially joined the Five Stripes last winter when now-Inter Miami CF center back Leandro Gonzalez Pirez was sold to Xolos. As part of the player swap, Meza registered with Club Tijuana before being immediately sent to Atlanta.

That provides plenty of familiarity between all parties, and Meza’s had an up-and-down year with Atlanta. The Argentine has played in and started 10 games, though dealt with injuries before developing a partnership with Miles Robinson as of late.

Meza also carries Liga MX experience, playing in 55 games for Club Necaxa. Other notable stops include Chilean side Colo-Colo and Argentine side San Lorenzo.
