Minnesota United look to further secure a top-four spot in the Western Conference when they meet the Colorado Rapids Wednesday night at Allianz Field.

The Loons (7W-5L-6D) extended an unbeaten streak to five matches following a 1-0 win over FC Cincinnati, while the Rapids (5W-5L-4D) suffered a 4-0 defeat to Sporting KC in their first match in more than a month.

This is the second meeting this season with the teams sharing the points in a 2-2 draw at the MLS is Back Tournament in July with Jonathan Lewis' equalizer canceling out Ethan Finlay's brace.

Minnesota United

Aaron Schoenfeld’s first goal for Minnesota United FC, a second-half stoppage time strike, gave his side a 1-0 win Saturday night at FC Cincinnati, providing them with a valuable three points in the Western Conference playoff race.

"You look at the league table, if we were to pick three points up in the week, you know, it’s looking very, very good," Adrian Heath said after the match. "And, when I consider what we’ve been through, the amount of players that we’ve had injuries, the amount of changing that we’ve had to do with the formation, mainly the formation in the group. You know, it’s terrific. Kudos to the players, really, because they’ve stuck to the task in what’s been a really troubling year.”

Colorado Rapids

In their first match in more than a month following numerous positive COVID-19 tests, the Rapids fell to Sporting Kansas City 4-0 at Children's Mercy Park Saturday night. Shaking off the rust, Colorado held SKC scoreless until Alan Pulido's opening goal in the 54th minute opened the floodgates for the hosts.

"It's obviously always disappointing to lose, but the reality is we weren't sharp tonight as we would have liked to have been. Given the time off, I can't say it's all that unexpected," Robin Fraser said after the match. "The resiliency of the team was great, the fight was great, You could see it was a real struggle for us, but this is just another step getting back to where we need to be."
