Goalkeeper Luis Robles meets his former club for the first time since being signed by Inter Miami CF in the offseason when the expansion side meet the New York Red Bulls Wednesday night in Fort Lauderdale.

Inter Miami CF (3W-7L-2D) are coming off a 2-1 win over Atlanta United, while the Red Bulls (4W-6L-2D) suffered another late 1-0 home defeat, falling to FC Cincinnati Saturday night.

Inter Miami CF

Inter Miami moved to within one point of the playoff line in the Eastern Conference after a second consecutive 2-1 win over Atlanta United, this one at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Brek Shea scored what proved to be the winner in the 11th minute, concluding a flurry of early goals.

When can we expect to see new signing Gonzalo Higuain? Diego Alonso provided an update Tuesday.

“Yes, it’s true that Gonzalo is now training with us as you know and will have seen,” Alonso said. “For the moment, he’s dealing with final details on the visa and he’s waiting for the ITC [international Transfer Certificate]. So we still don’t have an idea on the timeline for those final details. We don’t know if it’ll be done for this week or next.”

New York Red Bulls

The Red Bulls struggled to create opportunities in the attacking third and were done in by a late goal for the second time in the last three home games, losing to FC Cincinnati for a second time this season. Haris Medunjanin scored an Olimpico five minutes from time to culminate a result that represents how things are going for New York recently.

"As the game goes on, we said it was going to be tight, we said it was going to be a game divided on margins and no cause to panic, no cause to pull the panic button just yet and then they score a worldie of a goal of which they have no influence in,” interim coach Bradley Carnell said.

“It wasn’t Kendall Waston crashing in on the box, we dictated that, we put it on our terms for all the set pieces we faced on the night, and unfortunately, as per the picture, it’s probably fitting over the last couple of weeks, that one goes in. It leaves me thinking ‘what do we have to do to score?’ but we keep going.”
