It’s another three-game swing at the MLS is Back Tournament, giving MLS Today hosts Calen Carr and Susannah Collins plenty to dissect in the latest MLS Today show. Per usual, they’ll get underway at 11 am on MLSsoccer.com, Twitter and Facebook.
This morning’s match between Toronto FC and the New England Revolution, which should decide Group C's top team, gives plenty to start with. Catch live press conferences and all the highlights as Alejandro Pozuelo and Adam Buksa look to keep their hot streaks going.
There’s then a lookahead to the first night game (8 pm ET | ESPN, TUDN in US; TSN in Canada) between Atlanta United and Columbus Crew SC, with the latter already through to the Round of 16. One focal point is Crew midfielder Darlington Nagbe, who this past offseason joined Columbus via trade from Atlanta. The Five Stripes are also the only tournament side yet to score and need a win to survive, while the Crew defense has been rock solid. Which one wins out?
The nightcap comes (10:30 pm ET | ESPN2, TUDN in US; TVA Sports, TSN in Canada) via D.C. United and the Montreal Impact. Federico Higuain has been D.C.’s super-sub this tournament, while Montreal are perhaps faltering a bit under new head coach Thierry Henry. Either way, both teams would benefit massively from three points in Group C.
Beyond the action, tune in for some of the most surprising teams at the MLS is Back Tournament. Hint: Orlando City are looking like a serious improvement under head coach Oscar Pareja.
