Nashville SC's Dax McCarty gives his three young MLS players with most potential

Dax McCarty - Nashville SC - First game

Dax McCarty has been doing this for a while, so when he says he's high on the potential of a young player, he probably knows what he's talking about.

The Nashville SC midfielder joined former MLS veteran and his old teammate with the New York Red Bulls Stephen Keel for the daily player chat on the MLS Instagram live feed on Thursday and gave his three picks for the young players in the league that he thinks have the brightest futures.

Unsurprisingly, two of McCarty's picks came from FC Dallas' famously proficient youth development system who have each shown flashes of brilliance in their short professional careers. His other pick, though, is one that we have yet to see play at the MLS level but has evidently impressed him greatly during their time together on the training ground.

"I've got to give a shoutout to Jack Maher, our No. 2 overall draft pick. I've trained with this kid, I've seen him play," McCarty said. "He has a ton of potential. He's got a ton of talent, he's a really good passer, I really like that. He needs to get a little bit stronger, but that kid has a really, really bright future ahead of him for Nashville, hopefully for many years."
